Equity investments for BC businesses
Program Description
A venture capital corporation (VCC) is formed for the sole purpose of investing in start-ups and emerging and expanding eligible small businesses.
VCCs are usually managed by venture capitalists or angel investors who provide small businesses with the benefit of their expertise, experience, and business knowledge.
Steps to Apply
1. Reserve a company name containing the initials "(VCC)" with the Registrar of Companies
2. File a completed VCC Name Consent form with the Ministry, attaching the VCC's business plan
3. After approval, incorporate the company under the Business Corporations Act (B.C.)
4. Obtain certified copies of the Certificate of Incorporation, Articles, and Notice of Articles
5. Ensure the company has or will have at least $25,000 in equity capital
6. Complete the VCC Registration Application and gather all required attachments
7. Submit the application online via the electronic Tax Credit Application (eTCA) system or email it to the Venture Capital Tax Credit Program
