Program Description
The Venture Capital Tax Credit Program (VCP) & Eligible Business Corporation provides a 30 percent tax credit to investors who make venture capital investments in eligible start-up and early-stage B.C. companies involved in R&D, technology, and manufacturing activities. The tax credit is intended to offset some of the risk associated with venture capital investments to make a larger pool of early-stage capital available to small B.C. businesses.
Steps to Apply
1. Review eligibility criteria to ensure your business qualifies as an Eligible Business Corporation (EBC)
2. Prepare a business plan or executive summary detailing your business activities and financial projections
3. Ensure your business has a minimum of $25,000 in equity capital
4. Gather necessary documents, including the central securities register showing the required equity capital
5. Create an account on the electronic Tax Credit Application (eTCA) system
6. Complete the EBC Registration Application form online via the eTCA system
7. Submit the completed application along with all required attachments through the eTCA system
