Newfoundland and Labrador commercial aquaculture funding
Program Description
The objective of the program is to partner with companies to increase production from both hatcheries and marine sites in Newfoundland and Labrador. The program will provide a minimum investment to projects of $250,000 for finfish operations and $100,000 for shellfish to match a private sector cash investment. Prospective applicants to the Aquaculture Capital Equity Program should contact the Director of Aquaculture Development.
Steps to Apply
1. Contact the Director of Aquaculture Development to discuss the potential project and confirm the information required by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture to complete an assessment
2. Prepare a comprehensive business plan that includes ownership, financial, and technical details, as well as a production plan covering a five-year period
3. Gather supporting documents, including auditor-prepared financial statements for the past three years (if an existing operation), pro forma income statements and balance sheets, projected cash flow statements, and any necessary licenses and regulatory approvals
4. Complete and sign the application form as per the program guidelines
5. Submit the proposal package, including the application form and business plan, to the Director of Aquaculture Development
6. Meet with the Director to discuss the proposed project and projected timeline for decision
