Wage subsidies for biologically-based innovation companies
Program Description
The Access to Talent Program helps Canadian SMEs or start-up companies hire an experienced individual to carry out a project to achieve key milestones that support the development of a natural product or technology (Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4-9). SMEs and startups hiring an individual with 5-9 years experience can receive up to 40% toward the cost of the new employee’s salary to a maximum of $75,000.
Recent changes were made to the Access to Talent Program. With the change, applicants can now hire for a broader array of positions and fill roles requiring either medium or senior level expertise, with their relevant salary expectations.
Steps to Apply
1. Contact NPC at programs@naturalproductscanada.com to express interest in the program
2. Review the Minimum Eligibility Requirements with an NPC team member
3. Prepare necessary documents, including business plan, financial statements, project description, candidate's resume (if identified), proof of incorporation, and evidence of alignment with NPC’s definitions of natural products or technologies
4. Submit the application form along with the required documentation to NPC
5. Await initial review and feedback from the NPC team
6. Revise and resubmit the application based on NPC's feedback, if necessary
7. Undergo final review by the Commercialization Sub-Committee for a funding decision
8. Receive notification of the final funding decision from NPC
