Funding for Alberta Indigenous community development
Program Description
The Aboriginal Business Investment Fund (ABIF) can partially or completely fund capital costs for Indigenous community-owned economic development projects. Projects like these improve social and economic outcomes for Indigenous Peoples and their communities.
Steps to Apply
1. Read the ABIF Application Guidelines to understand the program’s terms and conditions
2. Complete the ABIF Grant Application Form, clearly defining the business and scope of work, including estimated costs, funding sources, project timeline, milestones, and a project plan if construction is required
3. Prepare a comprehensive business plan detailing the proposed business opportunity, management capacity, financial projections, and long-term viability
4. Obtain a formal resolution demonstrating community support for the project, such as a Band Council Resolution or equivalent
5. Gather supporting documentation, including feasibility studies, permits, environmental assessments, letters of support, franchise agreements, and partnership arrangements
6. Submit one electronic copy of the entire application package to ir.economicdevelopment@gov.ab.ca
